OMT uses a comprehensive and non-invasive approach to restore function and improve someone’s overall health.

What is Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a restorative technique that utilizes individualized exercises and interventions to restore one’s wellbeing. The objective of these exercises is to introduce proper function and build strength in the muscles of the orofacial complex (jaw, lips, tongue, soft palate, and larynx). Myofunctional therapy is comparable to physical therapy, but for the muscles of the mouth, tongue and face.

The goals of OMT are:

  • to promote nasal breathing

  • create a sufficient lip seal

  • achieve correct tongue posture/resting position

  • attain a normal swallow pattern

Who can benefit from Orofacial Myofuncitonal Therapy? Those with:

  • sleep apnea

  • snoring

  • grinding/clenching

  • chronic nasal congestion

  • chronic acid reflux or other digestive concerns

  • relapse of orthodontics
